The mission of the ASPCA, as stated by our founder, Henry Bergh, is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.
Our mission is to improve the lives of abused, neglected and abandoned canines; especially those which are chained or penned without human companionship. We strive to accomplish this through building fencesand encouraging indoor time, advocating for humane legislation; promoting and facilitating spay and neuter in low income communities, educating communities on animal welfare and care; and working with local agencies for rehabilitating urgently distressed canines.more...
Every year, roughly 1.5 million dogs and cats are killed in the shelter system, simply because they don't have a home.
But there is hope. While no single organization can fix theproblem, we've concentrated our efforts at the local level, pitching in to save as many lives as possible.
At Animal Haven, we work within the New York community to find homes for abandoned dogs and cats. Our Rehabilitation & Training Program provides behavior intervention and our Community Engagement Program focuses on the human-animal bond, striving to keep people and their pets together.
Founded in 1967, we operate a state-of-the-art animal rescue and adoption center in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood. Your donation helps fund these critical lifesaving programs, which include routine veterinary care, emergency medical intervention and behavior modification.
Animal Haven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 100% of our funding comes from private donors like you - we receive no government funding. So every dollar counts!more...
